JAAI Annual General Body Meeting 2006-07

The Annual General Body Meeting of JICA Alumni Association (JAAI) was held on 9th March 2007 at India International Centre, New Delhi. 37 members attended the AGM.  

Mr. M.Z.Khan, Vice President, JAAI, delivered the welcome speech. 

Mr. R.K.Jaiswal, Secretary, JAAI, informed the House that the budget for the current year was released quite late and hence the delay in organizing the events this fiscal. In a short span of time we have been able organize successfully all the events scheduled for this fiscal year (2006-07) except the Technical Seminar.  

On the advice of JICA India Office, JAAI Annual Get-Together has been renamed as JAAI Annual Convention and an eminent speaker in the field of International Relation/ Economic Development/ Culture is invited to deliver a lecture.

In his report, the Secretary gave details of the JAAI activities organized during the current financial year which included Excursion Trip to Surjivan Farm, Haryana,  Environment Awareness programme for school children at Ahlcon Public School, Mayur Vihar, Phase I, New Delhi, Origami Workshop at WWF India, Lodi Estate, New Delhi, Variety Show at IIFT Auditorium, New Delhi, JAAI Annual Convention at Radisson MBD Hotel, Noida and publication of JAAI Annual Magazine SAHYOG 2007.  

It was decided to update the JAAI directory and get it re-published. A performa should be sent to the members along with the AGM minutes to get their latest addresses and telephone numbers. 

Mr. S. K. Jain, Treasurer, presented to the House the accounts for the year 2006-07. He also requested the members to come forward for auditing the accounts. Dr. V.P. Chatterjee, JAAI member, volunteered to do the same. 

The Secretary’s report and the vote of accounts were unanimously accepted and adopted.  

The President, Dr. O.P. Dewal, apprised the members about the working of JAAI in general and outlined the guidance for future course of action.

Thereafter, the House discussed various suggestions received from members. It was decided to request JICA India Office for extension of time (i.e; beyond the end of the current financial year) to organize Technical Seminar and for special grant for organizing an event in celebration of India-Japan Friendship year 2007.The request to give financial assistance to Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust was not accepted as there was no provision for it. Suggestion was also made to make Identity cards for all life members. Members were also informed about changes in the website being planned.  

AGM ended with a vote of thanks.
