The Annual Get-together function of JICA Alumni Association of India for FY 2005-06 was held on March 12, 2006 at the Hotel Ashok, New Delhi.

His Excellency Mr. Yasukuni Enoki, Ambassador of Japan, was the Chief Guest of the function. Mrs Yasukuni Enoki also graced the occasion. Mr. T. Fujii, Resident Representative, JICA India Office and Mr. H. Yanagi, Minister, Embassy of Japan were also present on the occasion.

The function began at 7.30 PM with the arrival of the Chief Guest His Excellency Mr. Yasukuni Enoki. Dr. M. M. Singh, President, JAAI delivered the welcome address. In his speech Dr. Singh enumerated the activities of JAAI. He further elaborated that JAAI has taken initiative in recent years to add many new activities like Cultural programme in collaboration with Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust, Environment Awareness Programme for school children and Technical Seminars. He thanked Embassy of Japan and JICA for their moral and financial support to the Association.

His Excellency Mr. Yasukuni Enoki, Ambassador of Japan addressed the gathering. He opnioned that India-Japan cooperation is gathering momentum, with the visit of many high profile Japanese Ministers & leaders, the culmination of which was visit of Japanese Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Junichiro Koizumi to India in April 2005. He stated that the visit of Prime Minister of Japan to India has induced additional vigour in India-Japan co-operation in various fields. He also recalled the ties between the cultures of the two nations since ancient times. The Chief Guest emphasized upon the role of JICA Alumni in promoting technical & cultural co-operation between the two countries.

Subsequently, Annual Magazine ‘Sahyog 2005' of JICA Alumni Association of India was released by His Excellency Mr. Yasukuni Enoki. ‘Sahyog' contains not only many interesting articles but also a brief description of the year's activities.

Mr. T. Fujii, Resident Representative, JICA India Office, briefly described JICA projects being undertaken in India. Finally, with a drink in everybody's hand, he proposed a ‘Toast' for progress of India-Japan friendship and cooperation.

The programme was followed by the dinner. About 250 JICA ex-participants and their spouses and many Japanese guests attended the function. During the dinner, H. E. Mr. Enoki interacted with JAAI members and listened to the experiences of JICA alumni during their stay in Japan. JAAI members, their spouses and members of Japanese community interacted with each other. The dinner lasted for about 2 hours.
