JAAI Cultural Evening (2005)

Cultural   Evening   At   Amar   Jyoti   School  ( 2005 )

JAAI organized a cultural evening with Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust on December 24, 2005 at the Amar Jyoti School, New Delhi.

Walking into the barrier free environment of Amar Jyoti school, listening to the Swagat Gaan and watching the adorable children dressed up to perform on the stage was a novel experience indeed.

All the members of JICA Alumni Association of India (JAAI) felt extremely honored for having sponsored the cultural evening where children’s performance was soul stirring and quite an eye opener for all the spectators.

The basic objective of JAAI’s gesture was to create awareness about the abilities of the disabled through their unparalleled skill on the stage as well as academics. The program started with a invocation and was followed by a Rajasthani Ghoomar dance. The Bharatnatyam of slow learners and the finale by vigourous Bhangra on wheelchair kept every body speechless. All the items were beautifully synchronized and the artistes even on Tabla were amazing. The boys and girls (with and without disability) were beautifully mainstreamed. The vigor with which they performed clearly demonstrated their indomitable spirit.

The members of JICA Alumni Association of India attended the cultural evening in large numbers to cheer the children on Christmas eve. The Chief Guest, Mr. Iijima, Asst. Resident Representative, JICA India Office wished that such collaborated activities should be performed every year. Amar Jyoti has the magic of convergence and has always been a trail blazer in the field of rehabilitation due to their team work.

The presence of “Mr. Shashi Kapoor- the Famous Hindi Film star” made the cultural evening a very special function. As a Goodwill Ambassador of Amar Jyoti, Mr. Kapoor has always been instrumental in strengthening the activities. On this special day, everyone was exceptionally happy to have him as their Guest of Honor.

The evening ended with a get-together for refreshment where the interactions were as interesting as the program itself.
